Twenty-five years ago, Chef Alexander Treml, sailing the Caribbean on a 120-foot, two-masted schooner, found himself captivated by the Virgin Islands. His love of the islands, the people and the food inspired him to open a small cafe in the small St. Thomas fishing village of Frenchtown.

Alexander is of Austrian Heritage, was raised in Salzburg, Austria, and has traveled throughout the world. He is a graduate of the Schloss Klesheim Culinary School in Salzburg.

By mingling ingredients from his background experiences, Alexander has developed a style of cooking that reflects his cultural fusion. For the past 25 years, Alexander has shared his style of cooking through his cafe, Alexander's Bella Blu in Frenchtown, and his catering company, Tropical Events Group.

Alexander celebrates life, living at Villa Sunset with his wife, Nancy, and children Ryan and Kandi, and Bella (a Bernese Mountain dog). Overlooking the sparkling blue Caribbean and resting on a secluded private estate, Villa Sunset is a pristine haven set amidst exotic flowers and trees and commands one of the most amazing views in the Caribbean. Villa Sunset is filled with Balinese antiques and art objects collected from many parts of the world, offering a delightful tapestry of rich texture and colors for guests to enjoy.

It give Alexander great pleasure to prepare food and entertain at home. Every meal becomes a celebration of food, friends and special occasions.
